Jeremy Austin
Born and raised in Hobart, Australia, Jeremy Austin studied science at degree level and went on to gain his Ph.D. before coming to London in 1994. Here he joined a prestigious team of scientists at The National History Museum to assist with research on the preservation of DNA from insects found in amber. In addition to this work, Austin has been involved with another DNA project, which has closely examined the evolutionary history of the living and extinct reptiles (tortoises, snakes and lizards) from volcanic islands in the southwest Indian Ocean. Since then he has worked as a marine ecology consultant back in Australia and most recently has undertaken research on rain forest bird diversity.
