Ethics in Cyberspace
From: London School of Economics and Political Science | By: Roger Silverstone

EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION | Silverstone Drawing on the work of the French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas, Roger Silverstone, professor of media communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science, considers the role of the Internet in enabling or disabling what he terms "the moral life." He argues that claims heralding the Internet as being capable of providing new and more fulfilling forms of social relationship often fail to consider what exactly social relationships are or could be. His concern in this lecture is to examine and question the claims for and consequences of the intensity and interactivity of new media.

Roger Silverstone takes a philosophical look at ethics in cyberspace.
