From: Columbia University

Edward Said |
EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION |
The canon is the center of the study of humanism, comprising the greatest works of art, literature and music that the human race has produced over the centuries. Hotly debated, however, is the question of what is, and what is not, in the canon. In this lecture, the renowned scholar, critic and writer Professor Edward Said explores the roots of this debate and attempts to define a modern scope of the humanities. |
Edward Said discusses the dynamic, ongoing practice of the humanities at Columbia University and the academic world at large.
